In this review, we’ll look at whether the Intex Swim Centre Family Inflatable Pool is a good option for your family, go over the pros and cons of the design, and make a recommendation for what kind of family would enjoy this pool most.
Inflatable Pool Quality
This kiddie inflatable pool is made from 15-gauge vinyl, which is a nicely durable material that also patches relatively well with a basic patch kit. It’s not quite as durable as their layered PVC pool liners, but it’s still more durable than many inflatable pools.
Setting Up an Intex Inflatable Pool
Set up is relatively simple on this inflatable kids pool. Since it doesn’t have a pool filter or pump all you really need to do is inflate the pool itself and fill it with water. Since the pool holds more than 200 gallons of water it can take a while to fill the pool, but an average garden hose should be able to fill it in a couple of hours.
Pool Filtration
Since this inflatable pool doesn’t have a pool filter or a pump system it doesn’t really have an effective method of pool filtration. It’s a relatively small pool though, so the lack of a filter is a little less important than with larger pools.
You will need to do some extra maintenance on this pool because of the lack of filter.
Maintenance
This pool needs either regular maintenance or regular filling and refilling to stay healthy. You’ll need to wipe down the sides of the pool every couple of uses, or every few days whichever comes first. Regularly skimming the top and scooping debris out of the bottom is also a must.
You should also probably drain the water every couple of weeks, at a minimum, to prevent bacteria from building up in the water.
Who Is This Inflatable Pool Right For?
Inflatable pools are a great more affordable solution for families who are looking for a shallower, temporary pool to introduce some safer summertime fun to your younger kids. It’s a good option for families who don’t have a yard large enough for a permanent pool.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Smaller design is kid-friendly
- Heavier vinyl design is more durable
- Quick setup
- Doesn’t need much maintenance
Cons:
- No filter or pump means you’ll need to change water much more often
Final Verdict
Intex is one of the better pool manufacturers out there, and while this pool is a very different design for them, it’s still a good offering, especially for people with younger children and a smaller yard. The design is simplistic, but it’s also very solid.
